FlexCAN on the Opal i.MX53 Development Kit

The Opal Development Kit makes it easy to interface to devices on a CAN bus.  It has CAN transceivers on-board, and push-wire connectors so you can get developing fast.

This video has more details, along with a Windows Embedded Compact 7 demo.  The demo source code is available here.

The GuruCE FlexCAN driver is also included in the Windows CE 6.0 BSP for the Topaz i.MX25 CPU module.

Using Tahoe as a Remote Control

There have been a couple of cool demos made using the Tahoe and accelerometer board as a remote control.

Check out what Pavel Bansky did with Zigbee and the Tahoe to control a robot.  He has also documented his work connecting up the Zigbee module here.

Jens Kuhner also has a post about a project Hans Skytt Steffensen from the Centre for Software Innovation did to control a (toy) container terminal crane using a Tahoe, accelerometer and a wireless link.

New Distributor – Czech Republic

And more good news… UAM Czech Republic, s.r.o. is our new distributor for the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries.

You should check out their web site, even if you don’t live there as it has a lot of excellent information on the .NET Micro Framework.  Jan Kucera has done an excellent job putting it all together!

MFW v3.0 Beta Firmware and SDK

We have just released the first beta firmware and SDK for version 3.0 of the .NET Micro Framework on the web site!

This firmware version include basic support for everything on the Tahoe board excluding Ethernet and PWM.  This functionality will be in the next release that will be available before the end of August.

The SDK has some changes from the last EmbeddedFusion release.  The main difference is that the support libraries that were part of the previous SDK are now being maintained by Steve Maillet as FusionWare.SPOT on Codeplex.  These libraries will save you a bunch of time when working on Micro Framework applications, especially when dealing with I2C and SPI based devices.  See the release notes for more information.

New v3.0 firmware release – now with Ethernet!

We have just released a new round of Tahoe firmware.  This includes an Ethernet version, plus support for PWM has been included in the standard version.  The SDK has been updated as the Meridian support libraries have changed with the addition of PWM support.

Thanks for all your feedback so far – please keep it coming by either posting below, or you can contact us here.

New Firmware available!

There has been quite a lot of confusion around the “evaluation” version of the 2.5 firmware.  We have a new version of the firmware available now that removes this limitation.  Get it from the download page now!
